I hope everyone got to get a chance to see COUNTRY WOMAN, this month! What a thrill of a lifetime, to be picked as the Aug/Sept. 2009 cover girl! My cousin, Shannon Craig Eldreth, did all the pictures inside! I'm so proud of her! Just to clear things up though: She was supposed to only take some shots of what the farm looked like. So I had NO make up on, our children weren't in the pictures, and we did them in about a half hour! Then COUNRTY WOMAN called and loved her photos, so they used them!

Steve and I wanted to thank everyone that came out to the 7th Annual National Buffalo Wing Festival, in Buffalo, New York, last weekend! What an incredible welcome he received there. It was a very busy weekend, and he talked to as many people as he could. We also wanted to acknowledge Kim and her brother Ryan, who helped out. It could not have happened without them helping too. So Buffalo, you want some HOTTER peppers huh? Well in about six weeks we will be introducing our new line, with Extra Hot Stevereno's Peppers, so hang tight, and we'll get you ready for some HOT peppers, to go with that chilli, this fall. Again, to all of the wonderful people in Buffalo, thank you so much for all of your encouraging words, and all the Stevereno's that was purchased. Steve didn't have any peppers on his return home, good thing though, he was tired!

I just want everyone out there to know that I really dislike computers. And I know, "it's ninety percent operator" as grandma would say, but the truth is I don't like them. Why am I sharing this with you? Well let me tell you. I haven't had a minute to do anything this week, let alone, update the blog. So, I take some time to do it,(which takes me about an hour and half)which I know is WAY too long! Got the whole blog written, push the button, AND IT GOES OFF INTO COMPUTER (BLANK, BLANK, ) LAND!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, that just takes me to another plant. So there is your blog for the week. I had something I really wanted to share, and I can't even begin to start over again, at this hour. So thanks to all of you whom, read this, hopefully, it will be better reading next week!!!

Where has this summer gone? Today, Steve took an half a day off, to come home and pick! It's processing time again! I swear, we just put those things in the ground! With all the crazy wheather we've had, though, they are begging to be picked. The rain, the hot, humid climate, more rain, all make for a great season, for peppers.Steve is really excited about the first night of processing. It's this way every year though! And it's kinda of amusing to watch his whole progression, of the season. Becuse while today, he's ready to go, full gusto, give him six weeks, and I'll find him out in the field, praying for a frost....which is counter productive, because, I'm praying for just a little more time, to get everything picked! Now in his defense, God bless the man. I have no idea, how he gets up every monring, checks peppers, goes to his full time job, comes home, changes clothes, and goes out to the field. This year is going to be a little different for all of us. The plan is for him, to be in charge of all the processing. I will not be in on that this year. Which makes me a little nervous, to say the least. When I am in the plant, with all that heat, with my MS, I become, unable to move for a day or so. It just sucks all my energy. So when I say that Steve and I are a team, I have always, meant that. But this season, it will really be put to the test. I will consintrate, on marketing and sales, meeting all of you wonderful people out at the markets, he will be processing. So I guess like the peppers need the sun and the rain, to grow, Steve and I need to let each other, continue to soak up what we need to grow, as a team and as individuals.

Last week was a lot of firsts for our family. I was asked to be on the “That’s Life with Robin Swoboda Show”, in Cleveland, Ohio. Our oldest son was also graduating from High School, and for the first time peppers were still not all in, by the 31st of May. As you can imagine asked to do a cooking segment on Live television was a little scary. But I decided a few days before I was to appear, that you know, this is going to be a first for Stevereno’s. And shouldn’t I just go on the air, full of excitement and joy? Just be myself? I was proud and exuberant about doing this, and I think it showed in my segment. A few days later, it was graduation night for our son Craig. I swear to you, it was just yesterday that little guy, didn’t want to go to school. Until middle school, it was a battle everyday to get him there. And now he stood before a crowd of strangers, and excepted his diploma. How proud was I? He had come so far. He is dyslectic, and it took years of tests to find out, why he just wasn’t “up to speed” with everyone else his age. He went on to win writing contests, academic-scholar awards, honor roll, he had really come a long way. As I watched him walk across the stage to get his rightful, piece of paper, that every teenager waits for, these thought ran through my head. I wasn’t going to cry, I wasn’t even sad. I figured that I should think of his passage to adulthood, as I looked at Stevereno’s. Yes, it’s scary. The unknown gets us every time. I was proud of Craig and exuberated about this night, just as I was with the TV show. Instead of yearning for time, to have stopped. I was going to embrace it. He as in Stevereno’s have had bumps along the way. Both have grown from them. Mistakes have been made also. But shouldn’t we just be full of joy and excitement? Growing is a great thing. Shouldn’t we get great pride, in where we started ,and where we are now headed? The next few days were spent on planting. I have to tell you, I was sad, and upset that all the peppers weren’t in. Steve reminded me that everything happens for a reason. Just as he always has said about everything. Including Craig’s hard times with school, and the scary first steps we have taken with Stevereno’s. And that very night, there was a frost warning out. Well that really put everything into perspective now , didn’t it? That is the first time, in all of our years doing this, that it has frosted that late in the Spring. This is the first time, that we haven’t been finished planting by now. Everything was crystal clear now. Firsts shouldn’t be freighting. Everything happens in the order and the way it is supposed to. TV went great, graduation went great, and the planting is finally all done. Life is short, embrace all that comes to us, the good, the bad, and the unknown.

We started planting for the upcoming season today. It was a beautiful day to start. the good news is every year we learn something from the previous year, that helps planting go a little smoother. The bad news is, we always forget to implement our new ideas, until half way through the day! And this year was the same. So needless to say, it was a long day. Our oldest son Craig, started at 7:15 this morning. And after our youngest son, Clark honored the day, by attending the town's parade, he joined us in the field too. Our daughter Dana, came out from the city with her friend, to lend a hand on the planter. and after Kim, my right hand assistant, was done with the police officer, that had pulled her over, she too, helped. Everyone kept their cool this year. No teenagers fighting with each other, which, in my world, is a great thing! We got 4,120 plants in today. It wasn't until the end of the day that we remembered, what we had forgotten over the harsh winter. It's a lot of hard work. But I guess it's true what they say, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!
